Object proclitics
Grammatical object is indicated with object proclitics preceding the verb or certain minor class of adverbials (Thornes 90). We write them separately, but they are pronounced as if part of the word they follow, without shifting stress or receiving primary stress.
- Ü haʻa u naka? Do you hear it?
- Nü u süķi naka. I just heard of it (I didn't see it happen).
Possessor proclitics
The object proclitics are also used to indicate possession.
- Moodü i tüpüa. Maude is my teammate.
