This site is a personal compilation of notes from the Northern Paiute language program taught at the University of Nevada by Ralph Burns. It describes the Pyramid Lake dialect, though supplementary notes may refer to other dialects.

Orthography

Pyramid Lake uses the Wycliffe writing system, which is designed to resemble English orthography. For my own convenience, I am using an orthography closer to the standard found in the Northern Paiute-Bannock Dictionary (Powell, Glenda, et al. University of Utah Press, 2012). Wycliffe representations are also provided (usually) for compatibility with Pyramid Lake publications and my coursework.
